Third Year Competition, 2023
Prompt:
"For VTID’s 5th Annual Competition, devise a stool for use throughout our shared studio spaces. The winning team will have the opportunity to see their design produced in campus wood for our future program use.
Teams will be provided: red oak, 10ft x 5/4 x 5 to 10" widths.
Stools must incorporate wood. One additional material is allowed, but not required."
My team consisted of my fellow classmates Tori Albrecht, a second year, and Xandra Jones, a fourth year.

The Final
My group created a lightweight stool featuring footrests and support bars that doubled as a handle to transport the stool. It was assembled using pocket screws. The legs were mitered and glued together, giving it extra strength and the bonus of a unique detail. The seat was woven with seatbelt material.
I led the work in the woodshop, as I had worked in a woodshop over the summer before this and was more confident with the machines. I also edited together the final poster.
